Making apps is hard. We'll do it for you.

Since we first launched a few months ago, our most common iPhone-related request has been: ”Can you make me an app?

Only 3% of (self-selecting) developers know how to program Cocoa. As a result, few have been able to enjoy the extremely rapid growth and initial excitement of the AppStore - content creators are left sitting on the sidelines, watching developers have all the fun from afar.

Today, things will change. We saw this imbalance, and built an extremely simple way for non-technical people to create applications and distribute content on mobile platforms. Our Mobile Application Generator converts any RSS feed into a brandable mobile application in less than two minutes. It requires no programming, software downloads, or code maintenance - we’ll do all the hard work for you. For free.

Unlike web-based mobile sites, applications can easily store data locally - stories are available regardless of internet connection. Users can sync your feed and read your content on the train, in the car, or wherever else is convenient. Screenshots and a more detailed list of the product features can be found here.

The iPhone marks the beginning of the next wave of mobile smartphones. We’ll distribute your application across all open mobile platforms, so you don’t have to worry about maintaining separate projects for each. Additionally, we’ll be adding a community layer on top of all the applications in our network, so users can share and discover new content that’s relative to them. Support for multiple feeds within the same application will be supported in the near future, so larger websites can have different categories and a more customizable user experience.

We’ll be granting access to the generator on an invite basis, so get in contact or request an invite to get started.

Oh, and One More Thing

It wasn’t even a few hours ago when I posted about our New Reports and Metrics. I couldn’t stomach going to sleep before midnight, so I whipped off the next item on my todo list: Application Version Reports

As you can see, this breakdown will become increasingly beneficial for developers looking to compare metrics on how modifications effect application performance, engagement, and retention. Until now, there was no way to gauge the results of application changes over time.

New Reports and Metrics

Posted by eric on Friday, August 01, 2008 at 3:00 AM

In the past few weeks, we’ve had a lot going on behind the scenes. The first update we’re ready to share with you is our updated Analytics Reports for application developers.

If you take a quick peek around, you’ll quickly realize how much easier it is to break down the information our SDK library provides. We’ve included a few new metrics, including Device breakdown and information about what type of connection your users are on. We are also now providing information about session Bounce Rates to give you more insight into what makes your applications “stick”.

We’ve also significantly updated the Dashboard to quickly expose vital usage information about your applications.

We’ll be adding additional metrics shortly for more granular filters on data being collected, so if you aren’t already using our product, Register an account. We will be at iPhoneDevCamp this weekend, so come say Hi and show us what you’ve been up to.

WWDC Recap and Things to Come

Posted by jacob on Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at 3:25 AM

WWDC was a lot of fun, and I got to speak with a lot of developers and talk about their plans for iPhone. It was also a real eye opener as to the excitement surrounding the iPhone platform and the new mobile market in general.

You may have noticed the AppLoop guerilla marketing campaign that was being run all over Moscone West. It turned out to be a rather effective strategy, and we gained a significant number of new developer contacts over the week and are looking forward to helping them enhance and monetize their iPhone applications. The product we are rolling out soon will reveal why WE are so excited about AppLoop and why you should be excited too.

Currently, AppLoop is a company built and bootstrapped by two regular guys living in the Silicon Valley. While we are still a very small company, we will be looking to grow to help fulfill our long-term vision:Make advertising not suck.

We have some very exciting announcements in the near future for advertisers, developers, and mobile application users, so keep your eyes peeled for updates to this page.
